Sometimes you’ll see a video that is just too amazing not to share. I’m certainly guilty of passing along my fair share of interesting clips through this site. Since I’ve been on a bit of a video sharing kick recently, I figured I’d add one more to the list. What you see below is a product of night time snowboarding in the French Alps and a special snow suit covered with LEDs or light emitting diodes that makes for one of the coolest clips of snowboarding you’ve probably ever watched.
Filmmaker Jacob Sutton, a fashion photographer, created the film by teaming up with pro snowboarder William Hughes and designer John Spatcher. After Spatcher had created the special suit, Sutton and Hughes took it to the mountain where they spent four nights filming this amazing masterpiece on Red Epic cameras (cinema-grade). Although they dealt with the deep freeze Europe had been dealing with at the time, the pair still managed to collaborate and produce one incredible video.
Personally, I’m amazed by the incredible visuals. I love the stark contrast between the suit and the dark night, but I was especially impressed by how the light of the suit cut through the snow as Hughes kicked up the powder. It definitely trumps any kind of finesse I ever exhibited in any of my night sessions this season that much is certain.
