I remember back in 2003 when Thrasher Magazine held their very first King of the Road contest and introduced the entire skateboarding community to a new kind of competition where hi-jinx, not qualifying heats, was the norm. This year’s competition was relatively the same as those in years past with 4 skate teams with five of their riders each going on a 3 week long trip across the country. This year it was Lakai, Nike SB, Dekline, and Vans all competing for the title of King of the Road. But the Lakai team with Marc Johnson, Vincent Alvarez, Guy Mariano, Raven Tershay, and Mike Mo Capaldi prevailed with help from former Skater of the Year, Andrew Reynolds. To check out Lakai’s journey to the title, I’ve included links to all of the KOTR videos from this year’s competition below. These are definitely a must-watch for any fan of skateboarding so enjoy!
