What is Orange Leaf?

What is Orange Leaf? That was the question I was asking myself when I drove by one of the frozen yogurt shop’s Indianapolis locations. Before I learned that it was a frozen yogurt shop, I initially thought it was some kind of Asian fusion restaurant.  Then I saw how many people would hang out in front of it and knew there was no way it was some generic restaurant, so I told myself that I would eventually check it out.

Today, during my bike ride, I stopped by their Geist location to check out this new brand. When I first walked in to their store it took me a second to figure out what was going on. Unlike most frozen yogurt and ice cream shops, Orange Leaf is self serve. This means that you have to make your way to the back where there are about 10 different frozen yogurt machines with 20 different flavors. You grab a bowl then pick out which flavors you want in your yogurt. I went with a mix of strawberry, blueberry, and pineapple yogurt. Don’t worry, there are plenty of flavors to choose from if you don’t like fruit ones.

Next, you move to a table where there are over 30 toppings to add to your yogurt. Anything you could want like fruit, cookie dough, granola, and sprinkles is there and ready to add to your creation. After you are completely done customizing your yogurt, you take it to the register where they weigh and price it. At the Orange Leaf store I went to, they charged 45 cents an ounce. This is a little more expensive than your traditional ice cream or frozen yogurt shop, but it’s still not enough to break the bank.

The seating in Orange Leaf is pretty cool as well with a lot of modern-looking, fiber glass furniture. It’s incredibly kid friendly but is great for adults too. As far as the frozen yogurt was concerned, I absolutely loved it. It tasted great and more importantly, it tasted healthy too. The yogurt was smooth and flavorful, but not overwhelmingly rich. Instead of feeling sick after I had it, I couldn’t wait to review it in a blog post. So if you’re wondering what Orange Leaf is all about, I’d would definitely recommend checking it out. Maybe you’ll love it like I did.
