Last year Hubspot, an internet marketing firm in Boston, MA, began offering a web-based training program called Inbound Marketing University (IMU). The program aims to educate people on how to effectively leverage social media, search engine optimization (SEO), and digital media content to generate leads and increase sales. I first heard of the program last April as I was perusing internet marketing learning opportunities. Seeing as IMU was free to utilize and provided a certification if you completed the classes and passed the final exam, I signed up.
Although I was no stranger to the toolbox called social media many of the tools and concepts used to track internet traffic and identify trends were very foreign to me. Prior receiving my IMU certification, I had no idea what SEO was, how to accurately interpret statistics from Google analytics, or how crawling worked and what determined page rank. IMU gave me valuable insight that has helped me do my job as a marketing intern better and has helped me effectively create and manage this very site.
If you happen to be looking for a way to easily educate yourself on internet marketing, I would highly encourage you to check out Hubspot’s IMU. I learned a lot from it and I really believe that completing the training and obtaining the IMU certification is extremely valuable and well worth anyone’s time. Even if you don’t want to become certified, I would still recommend checking out some of the video lectures posted on Hubspot’s site. Perhaps you will find the tools you need to make your business or even your personal brand, much better.
